ABOUT

Hi, I'm a German girl who loves crafting and creative things and because I read a lot of blogs that inspire me, I've decided to share the things I'm making on this blog.
Besides, I'm sharing a couple of travel posts, as traveling is also my big passion.

My crafting story

I've been making things since I was a child. I started with painting and cutting paper always inventing new things. My grandma taught me how to embroider when I was little. She also showed me how to knit and crochet but I couldn't really get the hang of it when I was a young girl. It wasn't until a few years ago, that I taught myself to knit and I've made a lot of scarfs, hats and socks since then. I'm still not really into crochet, but I made a few things and I'm getting better and tend to like it a lot.

I also love making jewellery - I'm crazy about earrings. There must be around 80 pairs on my jewellery rack by now. I haven't made all of them as I buy a lot of them as souvenirs when I'm travelling or I get them as presents but there's quite a number I've made myself (I might have bought the materials on travel though :)).

Besides that there is paper work, decoration... and never enough time to make everything I'm planning.

My travelling story

I totally love travelling and my husband and I usually don't stay at home many weekends. We go on several short or longer trips during the year and love to explore new cities. We always try to catch the atmosphere of life there by going a bit off the beaten track. On the other hand we also enjoy doing nature activities like mountainbiking, hiking or skiing. Nature can be really breathtaking and there is always something great to discover.

My love for travelling started quite early in my childhood when my parents took us on holiday trips. We've never been the family that goes to the same place and does the same things every year. It was always some kind of adventure around like hiking in the Alps, kayaking and fishing in Norway and Sweden or biking through the Bourgogne (in France).

The point where travelling really caught me was when I spent 7 months in New Zealand during High School. I wouldn't want to miss the experiences I gained there as a 17-year-old girl. From then on, I've been on the move for at least twice a year with my then-boyfriend-now-husband and/or my family or friends.

Besides Africa, the United States and New Zealand, most of our destinations are in Europe as it is naturally not that far to travel. Within Europe, our favourite destinations are Northern Europe, France and the Alps.
The beautiful mountains of the Alps amaze me again and again, especially the Dolomites in South Tyrol.
France is always about food, nature and the savoir vivre amongst vineyards, mountains, the Atlantic coast, the Mediterranean and cottages in the countryside. It often feels like written in the books.
In Northern Europe, I would concern Norway as kind of my second home. I've spent more holidays there than anywhere else. Some time ago my husband used to live there for half a year and I think if we weren't before, this was the time when we became kind of addicted to this country.

However there is still a lot to see in this world - let alone Europe - so we'll see where time takes us.
